Our School History

O Castro British International School is the first British school in Vigo and is accredited by the British CouncilNABSS (the Association of British Schools in Spain) and the Galician Government. The school was founded in 2008 by Maria Carmen Vázquez González, of the prestigious O Castro education group, and in 2014, the School became the only accredited Cambridge School in Galicia.

In 2017 O Castro British International School joined the Globeducate group, one of the top five education groups worldwide, furthering the school’s mission to provide its students with a truly international education, ready to face the challenges of life in the 21st century.

In 2018 O Castro British International School will mark two important milestones; firstly, we will be celebrating the school’s 10th anniversary and secondly, we will inaugurate our new Sixth Form courses for Post-16 students.

O Castro British International School is the only school in Vigo and Galicia to offer a full British curriculum from Early Years to Sixth Form, and this significant achievement has come about as the result of ten years of hard work and dedication from staff and management alike.

True to our core principles, we educate our students to be independent, innovative thinkers and responsible human beings, fostering social and environmental awareness and exploring the increasing complexity of the globalised world in which we live. We believe that each child is unique and individual and we tailor each student’s educational journey to suit their particular needs, ensuring progress in all areas of the curriculum.

In 2021, O Castro takes a further step in its internationalisation by becoming a British International School, with a clear objective: to prepare its students to change tomorrow through excellence in British education, with a global perspective and a clear international vocation.
